I did teach some on the video- and added those verses below in the verses section. I try not to ‘teach’ too much on these ‘re-posts’ because then it defeats the purpose.
I focused on the readings from the Mass for this date- and if you read my Hebrews 10 commentary https://ccoutreach87.com/2018/11/06/hebrews-10-13/ it covers one of the main points I wanted to make.
I did see many of my homeless friends this week- often I pass them up [after visiting with them] and see them heading to ‘their camps’.
Yes- many of the homeless try to make the best of being on the streets- and even though it is ‘illegal’ to camp- without a permit [they recently raided a homeless camp- I actually saw it on the local news- and yes- I knew the friends who camped there].
Some of them have little to no choice- they have to sleep somewhere, and to be honest- the shelters simply don’t cut it.
As I drove passed a few of them the other day- I beeped the horn and realized they were waiting to catch the bus- and get off in a secluded area- right by one of our bays- and try and stay out of sight- and out of mind.
Many of us don’t really empathize with this way of living- often times the guys [or girls] don’t know when someone will walk up on them- or the cops will raid their camps- or maybe if they are sleeping in their car-
They will be woken up in the early morning hours and be told they have to move.
I don’t blame the cops for this- they are doing their jobs.
But the homeless- some who served our country with distinction [Vets] they feel like being homeless in itself is against the law.
Even if they are not knowingly breaking any laws.
I put the blame on no one- yes- some have struggled with addiction- or mental illness- and that’s why they wound up on the street.

Earlier in the day- on Christmas eve- a homeless friend walked in front of my motorcycle- I didn’t know him well- his name was Matt and when I met him before the guys told me he was completely deaf.
He also struggled with real mental issues.
When I first met him I remember saying ‘he should never been on the street’.
Later that day- on Christmas eve- he was struck and killed by a truck- about 30 yards away from where he walked in front of me earlier that day.
I wondered if he did this on purpose.
This past week we have had around 3 more people killed by vehicles- I think 2 were on the same day.
The day Matt walked in front of me while I was riding my motorcycle- I wasn’t going to fast- and I of course stopped.
But because I was right there- in the open on the bike- I got to talk to him face to face.
I said something like ‘be careful- you can’t walk in front of traffic’.
I know he’s deaf- but I also noticed he did not want to look at me- he remembers me- he knows me- and if he were in the act of doing something bad-
Then he wouldn’t want to be talking to someone he knows.
So as I end this short note- please be careful when your on the road.
If your driving- remember there are indeed people on foot- and yes- even if they are breaking a law to be using a crosswalk- yet- still be careful.
To those who do walk across the streets- take the extra time to walk to the nearest crosswalk.
The Police can’t solve a problem like this- but we can help- contribute- on both sides of the aisle.
To help not make it happen again.

This day I talked from the verses from some of the local churches- and taught on various themes.
I’ll try and add some past teaching below- and do a short teaching here.
In the 1st century the Jesus movement was indeed a rag tag team of homeless guys.
Yet- you had the well funded superstructure of the temple and it’s preachers.
Jesus himself prophesied of the destruction of the temple-
And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
And the prevailing nature of the simple church-
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Yes- the Jesus movement would spread- the early apostles went from city to city- on very limited funds- and preached Jesus-
3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
At the same time the super structure of the temple and it’s multitude of trained teachers [Pharisees- Sadducee s- etc.] was coming to an end.
How did the early church do this?
It was by the power of God- and not thru their wealth- that accomplished this.
After I shut the video off I taught more- and my daughter told me she appreciated seeing the bigger picture.
Often times well meaning men- pastors- teachers- read the bible- and miss the underlying message.
Often times we see the need as lots of money- when in reality- the need is more dependence on God-
Realizing that Jesus taught us not to see money as the thing that will get the job done- as a matter of fact those were the verses that some of the churches taught on this Sunday-
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
In short-
Jesus and his men turned the world upside down- not because they amassed a lot of money- but because the power of the Spirit was working thru the people-
If you look at the actual story in the books of Acts- that’s what took place-
And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;
At the same time- the monolithic structure of the temple- and all the finance’s that were going into that system- was coming to an end-
And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
It really is an amazing story to see- if we open our eyes to it-
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Yes- the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead- dwells in us.
And we are this church- this temple that God dwells in-
That’s where the power of the kingdom is-
In us-
Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
